The farm fridge is out on the place.
In the fall of 2012 Robert and his grandson Justin brought a flock of about a hundred laying hens onto the farm. They live the old way: on pasture, eating bugs, spreading manure, not stacked in a house.
Eggs are often waiting in a self-serve fridge. Call so you know they are stocked before you drive out from Rochester or Medina.
The same eggs go to Lori’s Natural Foods on Jefferson Road in Rochester, and have been sold in Spencerport as well.
Why the shells look like that
Araucanas and their relatives put blue and green on the shell. Rhode Island Reds put brown. Mix the flock and a dozen looks like a handful of river stones.
